Dear Ying Wang,

We are pleased to inform you that the application for candidacy for the Diploma Programme at Suzhou North America High School has been approved as of 12 October 2020. The candidacy period will formally begin as of this date.

The IB will provide the school with continued support throughout the candidate phase. Your school will be assigned a consultant, who will provide 20 hours of remote consultation and will arrange a two-day, on-site consultation visit. You will receive information about your assigned consultant shortly. Further support for the school’s work towards authorization is provided in the IB document Consultation process: Guidelines for consultants, which can be found in the resource library on https://www.IBO.org.

In addition, all teachers in the Diploma Programme section of your school can now gain access to the IB programme resource centre (PRC) via My IB registration, where they can obtain electronic versions of IB publications and teaching materials.

Throughout the candidate phase of the Diploma Programme, the  remain applicable. Candidate fees will apply; feeRules for candidate schools details can be found on the IB website at http://www.ibo.org/en/become-an-ib-school/fees-and-services/fees-for-candidate-schools/. During candidacy, your school will work towards the fulfillment of the requirements for authorization as identified in the relevant Guide to school authorization.

Please note that your school may not advertise itself as an IB World School authorized to offer the Diploma Programme until it has received an official IB notification of authorization. You are, however, entitled to describe your school as a candidate school. If you wish to advertise this information, you are required to use the following text:

Suzhou North America High School is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
